OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) Calculator
Break OEE into availability, performance and quality to see where output is lost.
The math
How we got your number
- Availability(480 min − 60 min) ÷ 480 min= 87.5%
- Performance1 min × 350 ÷ (480 min − 60 min)= 83.3%
- Quality330 ÷ 350= 94.3%
- OEE score87.5% × 83.3% × 94.3%= 68.8%
What this number means
OEE multiplies availability (uptime), performance (speed) and quality (good parts) into one score for how much of your planned time became good output.
One weak factor drags the whole score down, so OEE points straight at where a line is losing the most output.
How to improve it
- 01Target the lowest of the three factors first — it's usually the biggest win.
- 02World-class OEE is generally considered 85%+; most plants run 40–60%.
Frequently asked questions
What is OEE?
Availability × performance × quality — a single score for how much planned time became good output.
What is a good OEE score?
85%+ is generally considered world-class; most plants run 40–60%.
What are the "six big losses"?
Breakdowns, setup/adjustment, small stops, reduced speed, defects and startup rejects — the usual causes behind a low OEE.
How do I improve OEE?
Find your lowest factor of the three and fix that first — it usually has the biggest impact.
