Memberships
Overview
Memberships are recurring plans customers buy that entitle them to a set of free or discounted sessions over a period of time — like a monthly package of visits.
Where to find it
Marketing → Loyalty → Memberships.

Creating a membership plan
- Memberships → New Membership.
- Enter a name, description, and price.
- Set the validity: 1/3/6/9 months, 1 year, or a custom number of days.
- Define the benefits — one or more lines of free services: pick which service(s) are included, how many sessions (a fixed number, or Unlimited), and how sessions are counted — Per Week, Per Month, Per Quarter, or a Total for the whole validity period (the choices offered adjust automatically based on the validity picked — a 1-month plan only offers Per Week/Total, while a 1-year plan offers all four). Multiple benefit lines can be combined (e.g. "2 free haircuts/month" plus "unlimited blowouts"). A membership benefit is always a fully free session on the covered service, not a partial discount.
- Save — the plan becomes available to sell.

Selling a membership
From checkout (or the membership's own Sell Membership flow), select the customer and the plan, confirm the price and payment, and complete checkout like any other sale. The membership becomes Active on the customer's profile from that point, running from the selected start date for the plan's validity period.
Using membership benefits
When a member books or checks out for one of their plan's covered services, WAJ automatically recognizes it and prices that session at zero — no manual math needed. Checkout shows, for example, "booked a '{service}' under their membership." Every use, pause, cancellation, and resumption is recorded in the membership's activity log for both the business and the customer to review.
Managing a membership
- Extend — add more time to an active membership, pushing out its expiry date and refreshing its session allowance for the extension period (already-used sessions from the prior period aren't restored).
- Pause — temporarily suspends benefits; the membership stops counting down and can be Resumed later.
- Cancel — ends all benefits immediately and permanently; this cannot be undone.
- There's no auto-renewal. Once a membership Expires, the only path forward is Renew Plan, which starts a brand-new membership sale from scratch rather than automatically extending the old one.
Business rules
- Status: Active, Paused, Expired, or Cancelled.
- Free sessions are entitlements consumed as the member uses the covered services — once the allowance for the current period is used up, further visits are billed at normal price until the next period or a renewal/extension.
- Editing a plan's benefits only applies to upcoming bookings, never ones already completed.
- Membership revenue is tracked separately from regular service revenue in reporting ("Membership Sales"), so it's never mixed into staff service-earnings figures.
